Professional Career


Freelance Writer, translator and photographer 2005 – Present 
  • I currently work as a freelance writer, translator and photographer on Gran Canaria island. My photography is represented by Getty Images, the most prestigious major agency in the industry. My images feature regularly in newspapers and magazines In Europe and the US. 
  • In the last year I have written over 1000 articles for eHow and Garden Guides. I have contributed chapters to the Baedecker Guide to the Canary Islands and recently completed two other guide books about the Canaries that will be published in 2012. 
  • My blog The Sunshine Guide to Gran Canaria is among the most widely read blogs about the Canary Islands. In 2008 I self published "The Sunshine Guide to Gran Canaria" featuring many of my photographs.

  • Responsible for researching and delivering a detailed market survey of the Canarian book market for a prestigious Spanish publishing house. We identified the need for improved distribution and new titles focused on the tourist market.

Editor and Manager of Media Monitoring Company. Media Report (1999 – 2003)

Editor with final approval of daily business reports sent to top FTSE companies in the technology, banking and telecommunications industries. Manager of a team of 15 writers and subeditors working in a high pressure environment with daily and weekly deadlines. Writing and editing in a high pressure environment taught me the importance of organisation, efficient time management and a systematic working methodology. I also learnt to sold problems on the hoof and that coffee wil keep you awake no matter how many hours you have been working.
